Have You Kept Up? Instagram Doesn’t Care About Your Photos Anymore

Perception is a really hard thing shake, especially if it is a brand you have interacted with and have many years of association with in your mind.

With this in mind, it has been almost one year since the Head of Instagram publicily announced they are not a photo sharing platform anymore. See for yourself here

Changes are coming to video on Instagram 📺

At Instagram we’re always trying to build new features that help you get the most out of your experience. Right now we’re focused on four key areas: Creators, Video, Shopping and Messaging. pic.twitter.com/ezFp4hfDpf— Adam Mosseri (@mosseri) June 30, 2021

The trouble for many brands and businesses is that switching to a video focused strategy is both costly and time consuming. So how do we keep up without breaking the bank? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Turn existing blog posts and content in short videos and get any staff that are comfortable in front of camera to be the star of the video.
  • Use your phone to record – just make sure the background is nice, there is as much light as you can find (your office lighting isn’t enough unless you have a window office), and pick somewhere client or invest in a USB microphone.
  • Use Canva or other tools that take static images and quickly turn them into GIFs or short animations.

If you are looking for something more professional, here is where we plug our social media video service as part of our business. We have cost effective options that cover off all the above points.

So when you go to share your next photo on Instagram, take a pause and ask yourself how quickly you can turn it into a video.
